We're Off!

Hello!

We're setting off tomorrow morning for two whole weeks on holiday! We've never left hearth and home for that long before. We are exploring two Scottish islands that we have never been to before. One week in a cottage on Coll and one week in a cottage on Tiree.

This picture of a beach on Coll is from t'internet, and hopefully the weather will be kind enough for me to bring back many more such sunny sandy gorgeousness to share with you. Our cottages are both dog-friendly and close to beaches - so Maisie heaven, I hope.

We have of course packed everything but the kitchen sink - we are a pair of 'just in case' people, and anyway, the weather could be anything from arctic to tropical - these little flat islands have their own weather. Mainly windy!

How on earth do people manage without an estate car with a roof box????

That looks beautiful. Have a fantastic time. If you have a laptop with you and Skype we would like to set up a session to wish Michael a happy birthday.

Baby Groot Hello there! Last weekend the girls of this family (me, daughter and grand-daughters) attended a ComicCon in Edinburgh at the Potterrow Students' Union. This was courtesy of first-born grand-daughter who is big in the world of ComicCons, costumes and the like. (One of her internet fans recognised her when we were in Dundee shopping - how much fame is that for a 16-year-old? I'm very impressed.) Anyway, we were introduced to a whole new world, and who knew there were so many blokes who spend their weekends dressed as StarWars stormtroopers and other soldiers? There was the odd amusing person...

First day of the holiday. Our little cottage on Coll was a traditional two roomed - originally thatched - cottage. It has had a small extension added onto the front to house a bathroom and another small one to the back for a second bedroom. The main body of the house is as it always was - a but and ben. Living room with multifuel stove (that's probably the but where the cows were) and a kitchen with multifuel stove with the box bedroom in between the two so you get the warmth from everything.
