Last weekend the girls of this family (me, daughter and grand-daughters) attended a ComicCon in Edinburgh at the Potterrow Students' Union. This was courtesy of first-born grand-daughter who is big in the world of ComicCons, costumes and the like. (One of her internet fans recognised her when we were in Dundee shopping - how much fame is that for a 16-year-old? I'm very impressed.)
Anyway, we were introduced to a whole new world, and who knew there were so many blokes who spend their weekends dressed as StarWars stormtroopers and other soldiers?
There was the odd amusing person (I'm thinking the enormous chap dressed as Wonder Woman) and many, many excellent costumes - a delightful Princess Fiona from Shrek, for example.
Anyway, there was someone selling Baby Groots - made of plastic and quite charming- but a wee bit shoogly and definitely overpriced. Darling daughter was swithering about buying one for her son who is a mega Guardians of the Galaxy fan, but the over-priced and shoogly nature of the artefact finally triumphed and Baby Groot was left on the shelf.
But when I got home I consulted the army of wonderful, generous, creative human beings who are the craft community, and there he was - crochet Baby Groot !
So I found the tweedy yarn and set to with a will. Here he is - isn't he sweet? I do hope number one grandson will like him.
That is the best Baby Groot I have ever seen! Adorable. x
