I looked out when I went to make our morning cuppa - and promptly dashed out with my camera. We've had soooo much rain and mirk lately, it was wonderful to see the sun coming up over the hill. Luckily it is pretty quiet on New Year's morning, as I was in my front garden in dressing gown and slippers to take this picture! Mind you, I reckon the neighbours are probably used to us by now!
By the time we'd had our tea and got up, the light was pearly and very promising for a lovely day.
This is also taken from my front garden, looking over the school playing fields towards Garlie Bank.
We went out for a little walk around town, in the hope of getting some pictures of some of our lovely old buildings without too many cars around, but the sun doesn't get very high in the sky at this time of year, so the streets were still fairly well in shadow.
Here are a couple of pictures to 'inspire' you though.
The parish church of Cupar Old and St Michael of Tarvit, with its twisted spire (the tower is all that remains from the 1412 church, the spire and main part of the church were built in the 1780s).
The Duncan Institute, opened in 1870, was 'for the benefit of the working classes of Cupar, Dairsie and Kilconquhar' and contained a library, reading rooms, a lecture hall and a billiard room.
It is still our library, but the billiards are a thing of the past. It has a most elegant spire though, don't you agree?
Anyway, I hope these sunny 1st of January pictures bring you good cheer, and I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2013.
