Good Grief! Where has the time gone? I've been mega-busy, but don't seem to have achieved much - perhaps I've stuck my finger into too many pies and need to Step Away from some of them.
Anyway, we were away last week. Firstly and most enjoyably visiting Number One Son and his Lovely Wife, where we were treated to hot tubs, brilliant fireworks, bubbly, good food and great conversation. Then we trotted over to North Wales where we took in an exhibition at Oriel Mostyn in Llandudno. It was by David Nash, who does huge sculptures by taking his cunning chainsaw to dead trees. He sometimes chars them as well. Very impressive. I should really have had a human being in the pictures to give you some idea of scale.
Then we went to Plas Tan Y Bwlch, a wonderful Victorian mansion overlooking the Vale of Ffestiniog. It's a field studies centre, and my Wonderful Husband does a teaching session there from time to time. Since we've retired I get to come too and gaze at the scenery while he works.
The weather wasn't particularly brilliant, but there was a gleam of sunshine in the late afternoon so I could show you the splendid autumn colours and the view from the balcony.
Now we're back home, I must do Lots of Stuff. There's the Christmas Cake to make and a Christmas Craft Fair to prepare for.
Yes, it's only 39 sleeps 'till Santa comes!
It was great to have you two over too - glad you had a nice time! Just to let you know, in a mystery worth of Poirit or Marple, your abortive first effort at Christmas cake, which was basically a highly edible collapsed fruit cake, appears to have vanished without trace.
Given the fact that I am on a diet it is Impossible That I Ate It.
It is also, therefore, Impossible That I Know It Was Lovely.
But it was.
Thank you.
