While we were enduring the Big Snow, my first wee needle-felted dogs all sold on e-bay - I guess there were lots of people sitting around looking for entertainment while they were snowed in, and retail therapy is always a good way of cheering yourself up. So I had an excuse, and some encouragement, to try making some other breeds.
Here we are then outside the village shop & post-office - a Dachshund, a Red Setter, an Old English sheepdog and a slightly chubby Border Collie. The dogs with long hair are the easiest, because that long topcoat can cover a multitude of sins! I think I will experiment with using an armature to try and get leaner legs for the tall dogs like the setter and if that works I will try an Afghan hound or a lurcher. Dogs with slightly daft faces in real life are also going to work best, because my felted faces do seem to end up as a little bit of a caricature.
I do love felting though, and producing crazy wee dogs is great fun. I hope you like them too.
